Quality Carbon Constructional Steel

  .jpgIs manufactured according to the GOST 1050. Where the steel grade is specified the numbers indicate the average carbon content in two decimal places of percentage.

The quality carbon constructional steel grades fall into following categories:

• Engeneering steel - 08, 10,20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 58,60;
• Fast machine steel - 12, 20, 30;
• Boiler plate steel – 20K
Indications:
• Engeneering steel is used to produce machines and gears design;
• Fast machine steel is used to make non essential elements of mass production ( small fitting and etc) manufactured on automatic machines.
• Boiler plate steel is used to make boilers and vessels working under the pressure and at temperature up to 450;
The several steel grades substitutes:
• Ct20 - Ct15, 25;
• t35 - t30, 40, 35G;
• t45- 40, t50, 50G2.
Welding capacity: t08-t35 – good welding capacity, Ct45 – poor welding capacity, the boiler plate steel has good welding capacity, the fast machine steel is not used for welding.

Alloyed Steel

Low-Alloyed Steel Is manufactured according to the GOST 19281-89.
The steel grades: 092, 092, 0, 171, 162 etc.
The steel grades 10, 15, 0, 15 are the atmospheric corrosion resistant (ACR), the depth of the metal construction made from ACR in a 20-30 years of operation is reduced 2-3 times less than depth of constructions made from regular carbon low alloyed steel.
The application: Is used to manufacture the railway, metro, tramway wagons side frames, agricultural equipment and engineering constructions, operating in static and dynamic workload and seasonal and daily temperature changes.
Some steel grades substitutes: 09G2 – 09G2, 09G2D, 09G2, 10G2; 10HD - 16F.
The smelting capacity : unlimited.

Alloyed and Constructional Steel

The first two digits in the grade designation denote the average carbon content in percent decimals. The digits going after the letters denotes the approximate content of alloying element in integral units. The lack of number denotes that the content of this element is less than 1.5% (by higher limit).
Depends on chemical composition and properties the steel falls into two categories:

  • 1. Quality;
  • 2. High quality A;
  • 3. Special high quality .

Applications: the various improved parts: bushes, gear wheels, iron rings, bush sleeves, disks, rams and other parts which are required to have hard solid surface.

Some of the steel grades substitutes:

  • • 20 - 15, 20, 122, 18;
  • • 30 - 40, 35, 40, 25, 35;
  • • 40 - 45, 38, 40, 40.


The welding capacity: the welding of doped steels is difficult due to tendency of tempering around the welding seam and appearance of fragile structures (the special welding technique is required).

The Thermostable Steel

Is manufactured as per GOST 20072-74 .
The steel grades: 12, 121, 251, 2521, 203,155, 15.
The applications: are used to produce parts, operating under loading conditions at temperature up to 6000C for a long period of time.
The welding capacity: limited or poor welding capacity.

The Ball bearing Steel

Is manufactured as per GOST 801-79 .
Grades: 15, 4, 15, 20.
Letters and digits in the grade designation denote:
– ball bearing;
X- chromium doped;
The number – chromium content
– silica or manganese doped.
Applications: the ball bearing steel is used to produce parts, operating under static and alternating stress, occurring in contact zones of balls and rollers and race rings in bearings.
Some of the grades substitutes include:
• 15 - 9, 12, 15;
• 15 - , 15, , .
• The welding capacity: the KTC method is used.

The Spring Steel.

The steel grades: 65, 70, 75, 85, 60, 65, 552,602, 602, 703, 55, 50, 602, 602, 652.
Applications: are used as a springs, springs, flexible membranes, bellows and similar parts.
Some of the grades substitutes:
• 65 - 70, 8, 70, 602,9,50, 602, 552;
• 50 - 602, 60, 9.
The welding capacity: The spring steel is not used for welding.
